Bulldog Esports win EEG Call of Duty Winter Championship 2017

EEG CoD Winter Champs 2017 1

In a close fought 3-2 win, Bulldog Esports’ Youth Call of Duty team managed to see off Oblivion Esports to become EEG Call of Duty Winter Champions, Jacob Hale reports.
For those uninitiated, EEG – or European Esports Gaming – is a new esports website hosting tournaments for European players of Call of Duty, Halo and soon to be Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
This past weekend EEG hosted their Call of Duty Winter Championship, presenting 16 of the finest amateur CoD teams from across the UK and Europe.
The final itself was a close one, going right through to a game five which Oblivion were likely confident they could win. Having already won the Throwback Search and Destroy with a fine 6-1 lead, it seemed their Search game was much more capable than Bulldog’s.
On top of this, Oblivion had momentum on their side – swift wins in Search and Hardpoint as well as a very narrow, last-second loss in the Uplink surely convinced OBN they could take it.
On another day, they may have, but Bulldog proved why they are one of the UK’s strongest youth teams by maintaining composure and clutching up at the end of the series, eventually winning the final map 6-3.
In a statement made by Bulldog captain Swift, he said that the team goes in to all tournaments “with 100% confidence”, and they showed that this weekend.
The tournament itself was impressive for such a small organiser, too. 10,000 viewers and 37 hours of streaming across 23 different countries is a decent position to be in.
The top eight in the tournament were as follows:
1. Bulldog Esports
2. Oblivion Esports
3. Invicta Gaming
4. Mecha Esports
5-6. Team Profuse & Team Descend
7-8. Aevion Esports & Vortex Gaming
EEG now look forward to the EEG CoD Championship Series I, set to be one of their biggest tournaments to date.
