BlinkDota UK season 2 prepares to get underway

The second season of BlinkDota UK starts on March 21st, with 18 teams split across three different tiers competing to be the victor.
The first season of BlinkDota, which ran its course over Christmas last year and finished late last month, had a spectacular finale with popular DOTA personality Pyrion Flax casting the event at London’s favourite eSport bar Meltdown. More than 100 people attended on the night.

Unlike last season, the organisers have incorporated a tiered league system this season to address the skill discrepancies apparent between individual teams.
This time round the season has been split into three different tiers, labelled amusingly as ‘tryhard’, ‘limbo’ and ‘scrub’ for teams above 4.5k, between 3k and 4.5k and below 3.5k respectively.
League organiser Sam Adams told eSports News UK: “BlinkDota is currently the only league with multiple skill brackets, allowing viewers to see the best, worst and funniest plays UKDota has to offer.”

Amongst the tryhard tier are last season’s winners Eustas, as well as Terra Cotta Army (TCA) who finished in second place last season and  recently announced their new DOTA 2 lineup.
Alongside those included in this bracket are Team Senses and Alien Team. Perilous Raze and Team Enclave Gaming are also making an appearence in the lower tiers, so expect strong competition throughout.
The location of the event’s final and potential prizes have yet to be confirmed, however the league will take place across 10 weeks of round robin group stages, with the top four teams of each tier going into the playoffs.
With such an impressive turnout last season, and with the aim to “build the UK Dota scene for the community, with the community”, it looks like the team behind BlinkDota will pull it out of the bag once again.
